Breakfast at Chase

I'm one of those people that always eats breakfast. The first thought I have when I wake up is,

What am I going to put in my stomach?

So naturally when I woke up on friday for breakfast I was pretty excited. I was ready to fill the void in my stomach and breakfast is the meal Chase usually does best.

With this in mind I was pretty confident I would be satisfied and sustained. After all, it takes a lot of work to mess up breakfast. It turned out that Chase was up to the task.

I ordered an omelet with ham, onions and cheese from Bill and came back a few minutes later to see this...

At first I didn't think this was my omelet. I mean, how could it be? It looks more like half-cooked scrambled eggs with meat than an omelet. But then Bill told me to take my food so I thanked him and walked away disappointed.

Now you may say this was an isolated, freak accident that doesn't say anything about the overall quality of Chase. I would say you are wrong and show you the Friday dinner as proof.

The dinner was "Chicken Fried Beef Steak and Gravy."

It is my firm belief that "Chicken Fried Beef Steak and Gravy" can never be good, under any circumstances. Im not even sure what it is, never mind what it is supposed to taste like. What I do know however, is it probably isn't supposed to look like this...

Chase described this meal as, "Deep-fried panko-coated beef steak with country gravy." I would describe it as fried bread crumbs surrounding the cheapest frozen meat money can buy. And lets not forget the slathering of "Country Gravy" or corn starch on top.

I must say the most surprising thing about the evening was how much of it everyone ate. Come on people! Hold yourself to a higher standard. We are not dogs willing to eat garbage. If something as revolting as this is put in front of you, dont eat it. It should be as simple as that. We deserve better than this. Demand Change!

With the food this bad and the water as yellow as it is, I have become despondent. My only hope is that it can't possibly get any worse. I think...

Please email me any Chase stories you might have so I can feature them on the blog. Also h/t to George and Kev for the camera work.

Wednesday Night at Chase

Does this look familiar to you? It should; this is a pretty standard meal at Chase when there is nothing better to eat. I find this to be the case at least three times a week.

I know you are thinking that there has to be some better option than soggy and greasy pizza with stale fries.

So, what is the alternative? What delicious, nutritious meal has the Chase staff cooked up today?

It's Wednesday so...

"Make Your Own Sloppy-Joe Day"

Take a closer look at that mystery meat!

Delicious and Nutritious indeed. Thanks Chase staff!

What will they think of next?
Find out next time at, "It's Better Than Chase"

P.S. Did anyone notice that dessert of biscuits with canned peaces?

P.P.S. Please email me any Chase stories you would like me to post on the blog.

**Editor's Note** I do not mean to imply that the staff in the Chase kitchens is sub-par. I understand that they do the best they can with the limited supplies they receive. Please do not mistake my intentions which are to blame aramark and the school administration, not the local staff

Welcome Everyone

Welcome everyone to my blog "It's Better Than Chase!" My name is Eric, and I'm a sophomore here at Wheaton college.
It is my goal to provide an informative and funny look at The Chase Experience of Wheaton College students.

I have a love hate relationship with Chase but, lets face it, the quality of the food at Wheaton College is unacceptable. Every night I walk into Chase having half-convinced myself that,
This time it will be different. This time there will be something that tastes like real food.

Suffice it to say, it's never different. As much as I pray that it wont be, that first bite is always a disappointment and a sullen reminder of Chase Life.

All this wouldn't be so bad if there were other options, but there aren't. Wheaton students are stranded on campus with no alternatives to the unhealthy Chase food. This is what makes the situation unacceptable. Something must be done; awareness must be spread.

That's where I come in! I am going to spread awareness about just how bad chase is by posting a picture of every meal I eat here at Wheaton. I hope to show just how bad Chase really is and shed light on how other schools manage their dining hall experiences.

Please, Please, Please email me with any disgusting Chase stories you have had as I hope to create a feature about them on the blog.
